Union County, SC is the only county within the Catawba Regional Development District that falls within the Upstate Commuter Shed and is part of three counties within the Commuter Shed which includes Spartanburg, Cherokee, and Union Counties.   

Due to the small number of commuters contributing to the commute patterns within the Upstate Commuter Shed, Union County commuter patterns will only be displayed.   The figure to the right shows the number of individuals living and working within Union County, the number of commuters coming into the County to work, and the number of commuters leaving the County to work in other Counties. 

For those Union County individuals living or working within the Upstate Commuter Shed, there were 3,483 individuals who both worked and lived within the county, 8,362 who lived in the county and commuted out for their primary job, and 4,170 who lived outside the county yet commuted in for their primary job.
